Training
Training for Churches
If your church wants to start your own ENCOUNTER service, but you need some help getting started, we’d love to hear from you. We can come and spend some time with you and your team, exploring the reasons for and benefits of ENCOUNTER. We can also work with your team to help you through the process of planning a service.
If you wish, we can even deliver a service in your church on a Sunday morning, introducing ENCOUNTER to your whole congregation. We would suggest the workshop time is either on the Saturday or Sunday afternoon.
Training for Groups or Organisations
We have experience of leading training for larger groups, including at the Anglican ordinands Easter School. In this case, we suggest that we lead a full ENCOUNTER service first, followed by one or both of the following workshops/seminars:
- Inclusion in Worship – including the importance of inclusion, barriers to participation and how we can break these down to enable all God’s people to worship.
- ENCOUNTER: A Walkthrough – a detailed look at the ENCOUNTER model, explaining why it is structured as it is, the benefits this offers and how we plan our services.
Due to our regular jobs, our availability to offer training midweek is limited, but please do get in touch and we will do our best to accommodate your schedule. We are also able to offer training on Zoom.
Cost
For all training, we ask that churches and organisations cover travel at a rate of 45p/mile, plus overnight accommodation if this is required. We are quite happy that this may be a (warm!) church hall or a church member’s spare room.
We ask £50/hour (for the whole team) for training, but can offer a reduced rate to smaller churches. We want the training to be accessible to all, so please get in touch if this amount is too high for your setting.
